Detailed analyses of narrative elements and digital devices in hundreds of design sequences trace how novice designers learned to compose multiple story trajectories through the use of character, social-emotional dilemmas, and choice poetics. These four strands of analysis offer a complementary picture of IDN designing as a learning process and offer a foundation for IDN research and pedagogy.
