Official betting, also known as parimutuel betting, is a type of wagering that takes place on the outcome of a sporting event. It is usually offered by sportsbooks, and can include markets such as the exacta, quinella, trifecta, and superfecta.

Direct Ties to Retail Locations

Nearly every state that has legalized online sports betting requires each bookmaker to have a direct tie to a local retail location. This helps further legitimize the online sportsbook, and gives bettors a place to go in case of any issues with their account.

Player Props

For a live player prop to have action, the player must be in the starting lineup and either throw at least one pitch (if pitcher) or record at least one plate appearance (if position player) in the designated game. If a player is subbed in later and would have been the winner of the market, all bets on that player will be void.

Pitcher/Player with Most Strikeouts/Total Bases on specific day – All scheduled games must be played and go at least 8.5 innings for this to have action, unless the pitcher/player with most strikeouts/total bases took part in an official, shortened, game.

Dead Heat rules apply to this market, so bets on the first 7 innings of a 7-inning game will be void.

Highest Scoring Interval/Pitching Result/Pitch Count Markets

Settlement on these markets will only be considered if the necessary statistics are available on the league’s official website, or from the official statistical provider of the league. Alternatively, if the statistics needed to settle these markets are not readily available from these sources, another reputable statistical source will be used to support bet settlement.
