The official poker rules are a set of standards for the game of poker. These are widely accepted and copied without attribution. The author of these rules, Robert Ciaffone, is one of the most recognized authorities on cardroom rules. He selected and edited the rules for this book, and improved their wording and organization. Ciaffone has served as a rules consultant and drafter for several cardrooms, and wrote the rulebook for the Poker Players Association (PPA) – which was founded in 1984. This organization is now dissolved.
The Official Poker Rankings are updated daily and cover all types of poker games. The site offers free and paid poker tournaments and also provides rankings. The OPR also tracks prize ladders, profit margins, ROI, exact finish, and player ratings. The site also gives a free gaming account for you to try out your poker skills in freerolls. However, a free gaming account with no real money wagering is not recommended for serious players.
The rules for poker are regulated by the professional Tournament Directors Association, or Poker TDA. This organization was founded by poker players Matt Savage, Linda Johnson, Jan Fisher, and David Lamb, and now has more than 2,500 members from 63 countries. During its annual summit, the association reviews poker rules, and WSOP Tournament Director Jack Effel sits on its board. If you have any questions, feel free to contact them! They will be happy to answer your questions about the rules and help you play better in casinos.
